Afford is a home affordability and budgeting tool built by Bowman Home Team. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this simple on purpose.
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are governed by Stripe's privacy policy. We receive only your plan status and basic billing metadata.
Account and subscription data are stored using Google Firebase and Firestore. Your day-to-day planner and budget entries live primarily in your browser on your device. Reasonable safeguards are used to protect your information, though no method of storage is perfectly secure.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run the app (Google Firebase, Stripe), and with an agent or lender when you specifically ask us to connect you.
Afford is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18.
We may update this policy as the app grows. We'll change the date above when we do.

Afford lets you connect your bank accounts so the app can automatically organize your spending, bills, income, subscriptions, and home-buying plan. These connections are made through Plaid Inc., a service used by thousands of financial apps.
Afford never sees or stores your bank username or password. When you link an account, you enter your credentials directly with Plaid in Plaid's own secure window. Those credentials go to Plaid and your bank only. They never touch Afford's servers and we could not read them if we wanted to.
What Afford receives and stores when you link an account: the name of your financial institution, account-level information such as balances, and transaction data (dates, amounts, and merchant names). Afford stores a secure access token issued by Plaid that allows us to read this information. That token is kept on our servers, is never exposed to your device or other users, and can only read data. It cannot move money or make changes to your accounts.
How your connection data is used: solely to power Afford's features for you, such as budgeting, bill tracking, subscription detection, spending insights, and your home-buying plan. We do not sell your financial data, and we do not share it with third parties for their marketing.
Disconnecting: you can remove your linked accounts at any time by deleting your Afford account, which revokes our access with Plaid and deletes the stored connection. You may also revoke Afford's access directly through Plaid at any time.
Plaid's handling of your information is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
